Martinus Johannes (Tinus) de Jongh was born in Amsterdam on 31 January 1895. He lived and worked in the city in which he was born until moving to Capetown, South Africa on 1 January 1921. Tinus de Jongh was self-taught and painted, drew and etched landscapes, village views etc. He died in Bloemfontein on 17 July 1942.
