Hendrik Schaap (1878 – 1955)

Hendrik Schaap was born on 28 December 1878 in Delft. He trained here and also in Paris (École des Arts Décoratifs). Schaap lived and worked in Delft until 1911, and subsequently in Rotterdam, where he was a teacher of drawing. He painted and drew townscapes, including markets and old streets with people. He was a member of the Delft art group and the Art Society of Rotterdam. He died in this city on 16 March 1955. (source: Lexicon Pieter A. Scheen).
