Jan van der Linde was born in Amsterdam on 3 January 1864. He lived and worked in the capital, and was a pupil of A. Hilverdink. He produced paintings, watercolours and drawings of seascapes, beach and harbour scenes, landscapes and townscapes, mainly of Amsterdam. He died in this city on 8 March 1945.
